Thank you all for coming here today. If you were invited, it means your contributions and efforts have led to this momentous occasion of opening our new office. While I love the idea of an office, this place isn’t really an office. It’s Darrow.
Darrow promotes justice. We monitor business activity to find products and services that hurt people, and inform stellar lawyers who can resolve it. This work saves lives. It gives people back the money they deserve, along with more control over their lives. And it will generate billions of dollars in revenue.
And as we do this, we’re on a mission to build intelligence that can discover, assess and address every legal risk. If you knew the justice system was as intelligent as Darrow intends it to be, you’d sleep better. But also, you’d be healthier, richer, and much more independent. We believe that future is close.
To bring that future, we need to grow this company and the broader Darrow movement. Our old Tel Aviv office was way too crowded. We needed a new space. This is it.
Now, I want to warn you. We’re on the 51st floor. It's way too high. The kind of high that hurts your ears in the elevator up. The pressure here is much more intense. The energy we invested in this beautiful office will only be justified if we do great things for others. If we save many lives, and change the course of others for the better. This office sets the bar. Higher. Much higher.
When you work at an office like this, people expect more of you. This is the center of Tel Aviv. It’s a very tall building. Maybe the tallest. When we were elsewhere, we could say: oh, those guys on the 51st floor just don’t know what they’re doing. They don’t follow the right values. They aren’t thinking enough about how they solve problems. Now, it’s us. We’re expected to be a role model for other companies, in this building and elsewhere, on how to do it right. People literally look up to us, to lead them and to serve them. With great power, and a great office, comes great responsibility.
During this year, Gila and I met Abbe Graber in upstate New York, who shed for us a new light on the story of the prophet Jonah. Jonah tried to run away from his mission, to help a civilization choose justice and deny evil, because he knew the toll that mission would take. The moral of the story: you can’t run away. In her words: “When god asks you to do something, don’t make him ask you twice!”
You will feel the change immediately. When this office opening event is done, we’ll get to the mission, and this time we can’t simply criticize the industry from afar. We are the industry. It’s going to be a week to remember. It’s going to be a season to remember. This season of Darrow will be about pushing the limits of what we can do for people. We will push it like we’ve never done before: in product development, in delivering legal intelligence, for law firms, for the enterprise. We are going to make big moves. Get ready.
But now, I have to say another thing, because after all, this is a new office and it is in Israel, in Zion. The prophet Isaiah said: “Zion shall be redeemed with justice, And they that return to her will be redeemed with righteousness” (Isaiah 1:27). We decided to make this office feel like the Zion our forefathers and foremothers dreamed of, Zion of truth, authenticity, nature, justice. The rooms are named after physical locations in the country, and they are situated in the office in correspondence to the directions of East, North, West and South. The design of the office reflects this. And the texts written throughout the office are derived from the vision of Zion as a culture of justice, because Zion is not just a place, but an idea, a vision.
Our decision isn’t trivial.
On the morning of October 7, 2023, thousands of terrorists poured into Israel. They committed unspeakable crimes against humanity. We’re still reeling from the devastation left in the aftermath. The leader of the terrorists called their act “Tufan al-Aqza”. The flood. His wish was to compare cruel crimes against humanity to the biblical flood during the time of Noah, and to portray us as the morally corrupt people who were ultimately washed away from the face of the Earth by the raging floodwaters.
Well, we were not wiped out. We stood strong. Together with our allies, we delivered justice to those who tried to destroy us. And we’re still working towards the justice of bringing back our friends and family who are held hostage by what’s left of the barbarian terrorists. So you see, opening this office today is far from trivial. Things could have ended very differently. We're here today because good people, including Darrowers, courageously opposed evil and stood up for what’s right. Those who fought in the battlefield, and those who held the fort throughout the war, here in Israel and aboard, so we have a place to return to.
So, what is our answer to the failed attempt at wiping us out? What is our response to the sacrifice that got us here?
We build. For justice.
We build a just business and a movement for justice, right here in Zion.
We build this office as our ark, reminding us of our shared story as we navigate the rushing waters of history.
We build intelligence to send the light of the torch throughout the world, serving as a sign of justice for all. A dove of peace against a flood.
We build to uncover wrongs and address them, so corruption cannot get the better of our world.
We build to deliver on our promise for all people:
“Zion shall be redeemed with justice”.
Thank you everyone. You get this.
