The free world, caught in a storm of hypocrisy and decadence, is struggling to accept the new world order that is put into motion.
From North Korea to China, from Russia to Iran, from Yemen to Syria, all the way to Islamist terror groups of Asia, the world is engulfed by the flames of totalitarianism, once again.
Some free cities remain. In these places, one can express an outrageous opinion without being arrested or beheaded; women can even walk without covering their heads with religious scarves. In these cities, residents are free from violence meant to suppress their identity. But many places have plunged into the darkness. We see less freedom today, than we had only years ago.
Those who can afford to wait before waging all out war are lucky. The gradual war to defeat democracy is underway, not waiting for anyone. This alliance is fighting to suppress the free people of Ukraine, on its campaign to take over Eastern Europe. It is also waging war against the Jewish Democracy of Israel, seeking to uproot this noble people from their homeland once again. The alliance is meddling in the affairs of countries throughout South America, Africa and Asia. It is threatening Taiwan, Bhutan, South Korea and Japan.
So we fight. For democracy. For the freedom of all people. For justice. We will never surrender. We understand what many world leaders are just learning: that protecting the treasured principle of government for the people, by the people, requires us not only to stand guard, but also to fight when the time is right. This is that time. We will prevail.
What do those fighting for democracy get in return? A more perfect union. A better democracy for us, a better future for our children. A new democracy to fix our mistakes of old and the unresolved conflicts that have been burdening our institutions for decades. Indeed, the years after the war will be peaceful. And we will be able to look back and tell ourselves: it was our stubborn struggle for freedom that made this new world possible.
